IN A TROOP – Most girls join a troop for fun, friendship, and shared activities. Troops typically meet on a regular schedule determined by the needs and availability of the girls and their volunteer leaders or advisors. Like girls, each troop is unique, and finds its own special way to benefit from the Girl Scout experience. Girl Scout troop members work cooperatively toward shared goals and benefit from Girl Scouting’s unique focus on leadership development and personal growth. Troop members participate in Girl Scout program activities, as well as many other girl-focused fun and educational opportunities and outings of their choosing.
AS AN INDIVIDUAL – Girls may choose to participate in Girl Scouting on an individual basis as Juliette Girl Scouts (named after the founder of Girl Scouting, Juliette Gordon Low). Juliettes may be waiting for a troop in their area to be formed, have other commitments that make it difficult to attend regular troop meetings, or be interested only in specific Girl Scout program activities such as travel, camping, community service or earning Girl Scout awards and recognitions. Juliettes, if they choose. Like all Girl Scouts, Juliettes have fun, make new friends, and benefit from Girl Scouting’s focus on leadership development and personal growth. Although Juliette Girl Scouts participate in most Girl Scout activities individually, they also have special opportunities to enjoy program activities with otherJuliettes, if they choose.
SOMETHING FOR EVERY GIRL – Do you dream of travel to exotic locales, surfing the waves, or meeting other book lovers? How about sailing, geocaching, or going green? Girl Scouting offers an exciting array of girl-focused program activities that are designed with input from real girls, to meet their interests, needs, and abilities.
FUN TODAY, SUCCESS TOMORROW – As fun as Girl Scout program activities are, they are also powerful enough to change the way girls see the world and their places in it. All Girl Scout program activities and events are girl-focused and designed to help girls strengthen their potential for leadership development and personal growth in the many aspects of their lives, today and forever.
