My Girl Scout experience reinforced the leadership training I got in school. I always knew volunteering was important and devoted hours to visiting elderly people, working at church suppers, helping lonely people, making blankets, taking food to families, tutoring, helping betterment of my community. I think my ability to manage a home, raise three children, earn advanced college degrees, and progress in my profession was enhanced by my Girl Scout experiences.
Jane, Girl Scout Alumna
Being an active member of Girl Scouts was one of the most fulfilling ideals as a member of a wonderful association. during my childhood years in let me experience activities that my parents didn't associate with. Camping at Arrowhead. doing volunteer work and understanding what a difference people joining together can do for those who don't have the opportunity. As an adult, being a leader showed me what I can do for others. Being able to enhance my abilities in camping, horseback riding, hiking, sewing... I could go on and on. All I can say is that being a Girl Scout Leader showed my daughters and other young ladies that I had something to offer to society. Thru my scouts, I saw the capabililtes of what leaders can do and how people can make a difference. whether it is small or large. changes can be accomplished if we try TOGETHER. I would do it all again, if I had the opportunity
Cheri, Girl Scout Alumna
As a child and young adult I was very shy and insecure. I grew more
confident in myself and my abilities. My daughter and I became much
closer in our relationship. I also learned that I was not a great
leader but a great organizer. Girl Scouting is a wonderful organization
that will bring wonderful things to girls and adults all over the world.
Karin, Girl Scout Alumna and Volunteer
Girl Scouts helped me be who I am today. I love Girl Scouts and all it stands for!!
Susan, a Girl Scout alumna.
I was pretty shy and much of a wallflower but when I was voted leader of my group (as a junior girl scout); it gave me the confidence I needed to help get me through adolescence. It's a time I always look back fondly on, and the reason why I have encouraged my daughter to become a Girl Scout. She is a Girl Scout Junior now.
